Every January our office mails a letter to owners of Commercial income-producing properties. (If the property is owner-occupied and not rented, the letter should be disregarded.) This letter asks for the prior year’s income and expense information as it relates to the property. All information is strictly confidential and is only used for internal analysis.

The purpose of this letter is to help identify factors which could influence value, either positively or negatively. Please note, furnishing the income and expense information is voluntary. However, if you choose not to furnish the information that affects the value, it makes it difficult to accurately determine the property’s value if you had extenuating circumstances. Furthermore, pursuant to Florida Statute, failure to provide this information when requested by the Property Appraiser’s Office will prohibit you from using that information if you choose to appeal your assessment before the Value Adjustment Board.
 

When an appraiser arrives at the property, they will introduce themselves, show identification and ask to speak with the person in charge. Please be aware that for your safety, the Property Appraiser's staff wear uniforms and photo identification badges. We try, to the best of our ability, to avoid disrupting your business operation (e.g. not inspecting a restaurant at lunch time) and will keep the visit as brief as possible. Our goal is to uphold the highest professional standards and greet each property owner with courtesy and respect.
